Kitchen Grease Filter
Supply & Fitting

Grease filters are your kitchen extraction system's first line of defence. We supply and fit commercial-grade baffle, mesh, and carbon filters — correctly sized for your canopy, sourced from approved UK manufacturers, and fitted by our trained technicians.

Why It Matters

Filters Are Your First Line of Defence

A blocked or degraded grease filter allows grease-laden air to bypass the canopy and enter the ductwork directly. This accelerates grease accumulation in the duct, increases fire risk, reduces extraction efficiency, and can invalidate your TR19 compliance certificate.

Filter Types

Which Filter Does Your Kitchen Need?

We supply all three main types of commercial kitchen grease filter. The correct type depends on your canopy design, cooking volume, and whether your system is ducted or recirculating.

FILTER TYPE 01

Baffle Filters

The most common type of commercial kitchen filter. Baffle filters use a series of angled baffles to separate grease from the airstream. They are durable, washable, and the standard choice for most commercial kitchens.

Recommended frequency: Inspect monthly, clean weekly or fortnightly in high-volume kitchens

Features

Stainless steel or aluminium construction
Dishwasher safe
Available in standard and custom sizes
High grease separation efficiency
Suitable for most commercial cooking types
FILTER TYPE 02

Mesh Grease Filters

Mesh filters use multiple layers of aluminium or stainless steel mesh to capture grease particles. They are typically used in lighter-duty applications or as a secondary filter behind baffle filters.

Recommended frequency: Inspect monthly, clean weekly in medium-volume kitchens

Features

Lightweight aluminium or stainless steel
Multiple mesh layers for grease capture
Washable and reusable
Lower cost than baffle filters
Available in standard sizes
FILTER TYPE 03

Carbon / Charcoal Filters

Carbon filters absorb cooking odours and are typically used in recirculating extraction systems where air is not discharged externally. They must be replaced regularly as they cannot be cleaned.

Recommended frequency: Replace every 3–6 months depending on cooking volume

Features

Activated carbon for odour absorption
For recirculating (ductless) systems
Must be replaced, not cleaned
Available in standard cartridge sizes
Reduces cooking odours effectively

FAQ

Common Questions About Kitchen Grease Filters

How often should commercial kitchen filters be replaced?

Replacement frequency depends on cooking volume and type. As a general guide: baffle and mesh filters should be inspected monthly and cleaned weekly to fortnightly in high-volume kitchens. Carbon filters must be replaced (not cleaned) every 3–6 months. We assess your specific system during the site survey and provide a recommended maintenance schedule.

Can I clean and reuse baffle filters instead of replacing them?

Yes — baffle and mesh filters are designed to be cleaned and reused. However, they do degrade over time and should be replaced when the baffles become distorted, the mesh becomes blocked beyond cleaning, or the filter frame is damaged. We inspect filter condition during every TR19 clean and advise when replacement is necessary.

Do you supply filters for all canopy makes and models?

We supply filters for the vast majority of commercial canopy makes and models. We can supply standard sizes off-the-shelf or source custom-sized filters for non-standard canopies. We measure your existing filters during the site survey to ensure correct sizing.

Can dirty or missing filters affect my TR19 compliance certificate?

Yes. Blocked or missing filters allow grease to bypass the canopy and enter the ductwork, accelerating grease accumulation and increasing fire risk. A TR19 inspection will note filter condition, and a compliance certificate may not be issued if filters are severely degraded or missing.

Do you offer a filter exchange service?

Yes. We offer a filter exchange service where we bring replacement filters to site, fit them, and take the old filters away for disposal. This is available as a standalone service or as part of a scheduled TR19 cleaning contract.

What is the cost of replacement filters?

Filter pricing depends on type and size. Standard baffle filters are typically £25–£65 each; mesh filters £15–£40 each; carbon filter cartridges £30–£95 each. We provide a written quote before any work begins. Bulk supply arrangements are available for multi-site operators.
