BESA TR19 Grease sets the interval by how many hours a day the kitchen cooks: every 3 months for 12 to 16 hours, every 6 months for 6 to 12 hours, every 12 months for 2 to 6 hours. Hours are the rule; a busy takeaway or pub kitchen is a typical heavy-use example, and a school or office kitchen a typical light one. Your insurance policy may set its own interval, and where it does, that is the one to follow.
TR19 is not law, but many commercial kitchen policies make regular extract cleaning a condition of cover, and some name TR19. A condition is a term of your contract, so if there is a fire you need to be able to show the cleaning was done: a certificate, a report and the date. Check your policy schedule for the wording and ask your broker if it is unclear.
We are based in Peterborough and cover a wide area within 70 miles of Peterborough and surrounding counties, including Cambridge, Northampton, Lincoln, Huntingdon, Stamford, Kettering, Spalding, Ely, and Corby. If you are unsure whether we cover your postcode, enter it in our enquiry form and we will confirm within 24 hours.
A full TR19 grease system clean covers the entire extraction system from canopy to discharge point. This includes the canopy hood, baffle or mesh filters, internal ductwork, riser shafts, fan unit, and any access panels. After cleaning, we carry out deposit thickness testing and provide a full photographic report with a TR19 compliance certificate, which is the record your insurer, Environmental Health Officer or fire officer can ask to see.
Pricing depends on the size and complexity of your extraction system, the level of grease build-up, and access requirements. We provide transparent, itemised quotes with no hidden costs. To get an accurate price, book a free no-obligation site survey and we will assess your system and provide a written quote within 48 hours.
Most commercial kitchen extraction cleans take between 2 and 6 hours, depending on the size of the system and the level of grease accumulation. We offer out-of-hours and early-morning appointments to minimise disruption to your kitchen operations.
Yes. After every clean, we provide a TR19 compliance certificate and a photographic service report documenting the condition of the system before and after cleaning, deposit thickness measurements, and details of the work carried out. This is the documentation insurers, Environmental Health Officers and fire officers ask to see as evidence of compliance.
Yes. Our founder holds the CII Level 3 Certificate in Insurance and works alongside Focus Insurance Services, an FCA-regulated commercial insurance broker. We can explain what our certificate and report show if your broker or underwriter asks. If you have received a compliance notice from your insurer, contact us and we will prioritise your survey.
